Day 2 & 3

Well continuing on from arriving at the Ala Moana Shopping Mall.... well actually that is where the story ends for two of us, because Mikayla and I never left! We split up when we got there and met back up at 12 for lunch. Headed to 'Bubba Gumps' and had a yummy lunch. Shrimps for Chris, Texas Chicken Sandwich for me, a chicken, pear & raspberry salad for Mikayla (that was yum!) and Jakob had the pizza. Washed down with a never ending glass of strawberry-lemonade. They kept refilling it before the kids had even got halfway down. The Kids think free refills wherever you go is the best! Great service but I am sure their teeth are going to fall out before this holiday is through!

The plan was to head back to the beach for the day. Mikayla and I had spotted Sephora so suggested we would meet the boys back at the hotel in half an hour. Now in our defence this mall is HUGE!!! We ended up getting back at about 5pm and that was only because we had such sore feet!!! So after a little rest we headed into Waikiki to have Thai at Keo's. There are pictures on the wall with the owner and every celebrity know to man. We were all craving veges and it was nice not to have your order served with fries and bread on the side!!! Dinner was great and after we were done we headed into the main strip of Waikiki to people watch and catch a couple of street performers. We stopped in at Wolfgang's on the way home and had hot fudge sundaes and a slice of key lime pie OMG seriously good!! We all talked about how we like to go back there for dinner until we saw the menu were a steak was around $50us..... hmmmmm feeding a family of four here is expensive!!

Yesterday Chris & I went for our usual morning walk and sneaky breakfast without the kids (they haven’t worked this out yet). The weather here has been kind of weird. The first day was cold!! Then yesterday was lovely and hot so we headed down to the beach, which is only about a 2 min walk from our hotel. We then headed back to the mall to grab some lunch, ate at the foodcourt, big mistake. More carbos, more melted cheese…. Felt more than a little yuk afterwards! It’s kind of hard to find a plain sandwich here, I guess we will have to start visiting the supermarkets and making our own.

We walked to Walmart after dinner last night. If you google ‘people of Walmart’ you will get an insight into what we saw…… fun place to wander around though and quite a few bargains to be had!

We picked up our rental car this morning and headed out to the outlet mall. A few bargains, converse are extremely cheap (think we paid about $25us-$30us a pair). Everyone seems to be buying things except me! Other than a couple of pairs of shoes I haven’t really seen anything I really love! I am sure this will change….

Finally went to a Target today!!! Check that off the bucket list. Loved it there, will have to go back as this was our last stop and our feet are taking a pounding! We head to Maui on Friday so don’t want to take too much luggage with us, we will shop more when we come back to Oahu.

Kids are cooling off in the hotel pool. We are heading out for dinner soon. Tomorrow we are going to head over to the North Shore. It’s been overcast today so I haven’t felt too guilty for spending so much time in the malls! We plan to relax and explore for the next few days so I hope Honolulu turns on the great weather for us.

Aloha
